For decades, wholesale distributors serve as middlemen between consumers and manufacturers. With accelerating digital transformation, we are experiencing rapid evolving business models, intense competition and more empowered customers.
Today, traditional wholesalers and retailers are concerned with this distribution disruption and there is a need for wholesalers to respond fast, adapt and be more agile. Many distributors are responding with cost cutting measures to sustain and improve their business fundamentals but today’s disrupted forces requires a more fundamental shift in the business model.
Our Founder & Managing Director conducted VKT’s first Digital High Impact Sales training (PSMB approved) to help one of the businesses from her hometown, Penang, to upskill their sales team. Based on a CSO report, in 2016, only 50% of sales reps attained their quota, as compared to 63% in 2012, & this is still decreasing. Given the dynamic environment, unsurprisingly, firms find difficulty in adapting to the changing mindsets & habits of customers. I had an exciting morning helping the team uncover customer insights, align their sales culture & adopt new virtual selling strategies to better influence & generate customers through a customised program.

Can critical thinking and creativity be taught or learned?
Most will agree that human beings are creatures of habit. Based on this premise, one would think that critical thinking and creativity are skills and thus can be taught or learned. However, there is a problem with this notion if we think about creativity as a talent, presumed to be an aptitude, or the ability to be good at something without being taught or in the case of critical thinking, it is an innate quality that implies one may not be trained or nurtured to think more critically. In this interactive session, we explore Pearson’s research on the Future of Skills and the Skills for Today whitepapers, specifically on Critical Thinking Skills and Creative Thinking, and discuss how employers can support skill development.

Online and offline, omnichannel experiences are incredibly efficient when they are user-centered, meaning that they take into account the clients’ needs and expectations. Building a good user experience is key for the success of your project. User experience is meant online, but also offline and across multiple channels.
If you are creating a new experience or even just improve an existing one, there are a few methods, such as persona workshops, user interviews and empathy map, to understand your customer better as well as his or her journey until conversion. We will explain those techniques and share further ideas of tools that can be used specifically online to improve an existing website, based on analytics.
